Kotaro Yoshida

Kōtarō Yoshida is a highly successful Japanese actor and theatre director, born on January 14, 1959, in Tokyo. He is currently affiliated with Horipro. Yoshida initially spent six years in Osaka during his grade school days and later grew up in Hino, Tokyo. His decision to become an actor was sparked while he was a student at St. Paul High School after seeing the Shakespearean comedy Twelfth Night. He made his debut in the Shakespeare Study Group while studying German Literature at Sophia University, though he later dropped out. After working with the Shiki Theatre Company and others, he co-founded Performance Unit AUN in 1997, where he served as a director and performer, frequently starring in productions of Shakespeare and Greek tragedies, including many directed by Yukio Ninagawa. He expanded his activities into television dramas and films around 2010. Some of his notable television roles include Hiroshi Naito in Naoki Hanzawa (2013), Densuke Kanō in Hanako and Anne (2014), and Musashi Kurosawa in the Ossan's Love series. His recent filmography includes The Third Murder (2017), Cube (2021), and the upcoming animated film Scarlet (2025), where he is a voice actor. He married in 2016 (his fourth marriage, including one de facto marriage) and has children.
