Kurt Braunohler

Kurt Braunohler is an American comedian, actor, podcaster, and host, born on February 22, 1976, in Neptune, New Jersey. He is known for his eccentric, absurd style of comedy and his commitment to inserting "absurdity into strangers' lives." He graduated from Christian Brothers Academy and majored in both English and philosophy at Johns Hopkins University. Braunohler is a frequent collaborator with Kristen Schaal, with whom he co-created the web series Penelope Princess of Pets and, most notably, co-hosts the long-running live variety show "Hot Tub." He was the host of IFC's comedy game show Bunk and his televised hour specials include Trust Me (2017) and Perfectly Stupid (2022), the latter of which features him discussing parenthood. His debut comedy album, How Do I Land? (2013), was titled after his viral "Cloud Project," where he successfully raised money via Kickstarter to hire a pilot to skywrite the words "How Do I Land?" over Los Angeles. As an actor, he appeared in the film The Big Sick (2017), which he also wrote on, and the horror film Barbarian (2022), in addition to TV roles in Bob's Burgers, New Girl, and The Good Place. He is the co-host of the podcast Bananas and previously hosted The K Ohle with Kurt Braunohler. He is married to Lauren Cook, with whom he hosts the podcast Wedlock. In a charitable endeavor, he once rode a jet ski from Chicago to New Orleans on a mission to raise funds to send goats and chickens to families in need in Africa.
