Kyra Sedgwick is an acclaimed American actress, director, and producer, celebrated for her versatile roles in film and television. Born on August 19, 1965, in New York City, she began her acting career at age 16 with a role on the soap opera Another World. She later graduated from the University of Southern California and established herself as a prominent figure in Hollywood. Sedgwick's breakout role came with the crime drama The Closer (2005–2012), where she portrayed Deputy Chief Brenda Leigh Johnson.
