Lars Knudsen

Lars Knudsen is a Danish film producer known for his influential contributions to American independent cinema. He began his producing career in the early 2000s and co-founded the production company Parts & Labor with Jay Van Hoy in 2004. Together, they produced critically acclaimed films such as Beginners (2010), Ain't Them Bodies Saints (2013), The Witch (2015), and Frank & Lola (2016), helping to launch and support the careers of numerous filmmakers. In 2016, Knudsen and Van Hoy amicably ended their partnership. In 2019, following the success of Hereditary (2018), Knudsen teamed up with director Ari Aster to launch the production company Square Peg. Under Square Peg, he has continued to champion bold, genre-defying films including Midsommar (2019), The Northman (2022), Beau Is Afraid (2023), Dream Scenario (2023), and Sasquatch Sunset (2024). His work spans a wide range of projects, from intimate dramas to elevated horror and experimental storytelling. Knudsen's body of work reflects a strong commitment to distinctive and original storytelling, with producing credits on acclaimed films such as American Honey (2016) and Hereditary. He has also served as executive producer on notable projects including Keep the Lights On (2012) and the documentary Trophy (2017).
