Lars Mikkelsen
Lars Mikkelsen is a prominent Danish actor, born on May 6, 1964, who is recognized for his commanding presence in Scandinavian and international film and television. After an early life that included military service and a stint as a street mime and juggler, he enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark at age 27, graduating in 1995. Mikkelsen gained international recognition for his roles in critically acclaimed Danish drama series, including the mayoral candidate Troels Hartmann in The Killing and journalist Søren Ravn in Borgen. His international career took off with key antagonist roles, such as the master blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen in the BBC's Sherlock and the fictional Russian President Viktor Petrov in Netflix's House of Cards. He is also known for his voice work and later live-action portrayal of the cunning Grand Admiral Thrawn in the Star Wars Rebels animated series and the live-action series Ahsoka. He won an International Emmy Award in 2018 for his leading role in the Danish drama series Ride Upon the Storm. He is the older brother of actor Mads Mikkelsen and is married to actress Anette Støvelbæk, with whom he has two sons.
