Lucy Punch
Lucy Punch is an accomplished English actress recognized for her versatile roles in both British and American film and television, often noted for her comedic timing and frequent portrayal of eccentric or slightly immoral characters. Born Lucy Alice T. Punch in Hammersmith, West London, she trained with the National Youth Theatre from 1993 to 1997 before leaving University College London to pursue acting full-time. Her breakthrough came with the role of Wendy in the action-comedy film Hot Fuzz (2007), which was followed by notable roles in major Hollywood comedies like Dinner for Schmucks (2010), You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger (2010), and the highly successful Bad Teacher (2011), where she played the scheming Amy. On television, she is widely celebrated for her role as the comically overbearing "Alpha Mum" Amanda in the BBC sitcom Motherland (2016–2022) and its subsequent spin-off, Amandaland (2025). She also played the main role of Esmé Squalor in the Netflix series A Series of Unfortunate Events and most recently appeared in the 2025 Christmas film Jingle Bell Heist.
