Luis Tosar

Luis López Tosar is a highly acclaimed Spanish actor from Galicia, known as one of the most recognizable and versatile performers in Spain's film industry. Born on October 13, 1971, he began his career in theater and short films before gaining regional notoriety in the 1998 Galician TV series Mareas vivas. His film debut was in Atilano, presidente (1998), followed by a breakthrough supporting role in Flores de otro mundo (Flowers from Another World) (1999), which earned him a Goya Award nomination for Best New Actor.Tosar is a three-time Goya Award winner, securing his first for Best Supporting Actor for Los lunes al sol (Mondays in the Sun) (2002). He then won the Goya Award for Best Actor for two of his most memorable and intense performances: the abusive husband Antonio in Te doy mis ojos (Take My Eyes) (2003), and the charismatic, riot-instigating prisoner Malamadre in the international hit thriller Celda 211 (Cell 211) (2009).Beyond his highly awarded Spanish career, Tosar has appeared in international productions, notably playing the icy Colombian drug lord Montoya in Michael Mann's Miami Vice (2006) and a role in Jim Jarmusch's The Limits of Control (2009).
