Madeline Brewer

Madeline Kathryn Brewer is an American actress born on May 1, 1992, in Pitman, New Jersey. She is the daughter of actor and musician Laurie and Mark Brewer and is an alumna of the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. Brewer began her television career in 2013 with the recurring role of Tricia Miller in the Netflix series Orange Is the New Black, followed by the role of Miranda Cates in the Netflix series Hemlock Grove (2014–2015). She is most widely known for her starring role as Janine Lindo in the acclaimed Hulu series The Handmaid's Tale (2017–2025), for which she received a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2021. Her other notable television work includes an appearance in the Black Mirror episode "Men Against Fire" (2016) and the starring role of Brontë in the Netflix series You (2025). Brewer's film credits include the psychological horror films Braid and Cam (both 2018), and The Ultimate Playlist of Noise (2021). She also recently appeared as Anna in the 2025 American thriller film Anniversary. Brewer is also active in theatre, making her New York stage debut as Audrey in the off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors. She married Jack Thompson-Roylance in 2025.
