Mads Sjøgård Pettersen is an acclaimed Norwegian actor, writer, and director, born on January 21, 1984, in Sørfold, Nordland county. After studying acting and video design at the Norwegian Theatre Academy, he quickly established himself in the industry, gaining early recognition for his versatile talent. His breakthrough came with the 2009 drama film Nord, for which he won the Amanda Award for Best Male Supporting Actor—Norway's top film honor. Pettersen has since built a substantial career in both Norwegian and international productions, known for roles such as Erik Moberg in the biographical sports film Eddie the Eagle (2016), a Norwegian resistance fighter in the WWII thriller The 12th Man (2017), and Håvard Bakkeli in the series Nobel. Most recently, he achieved global recognition for playing the dependable military man Captain Kristoffer "Kris" Holm in the highly successful Netflix monster film Troll (2022) and is reprising that role as Major Holm in the sequel, Troll 2 (2025).
