Maksim Volkov, born on March 12, 1981, in Voronezh, Russia, is an acclaimed director, screenwriter, and voice actor primarily known for his significant contributions to modern Russian animation. He began his professional journey in 2001 at the renowned Wizart Animation studio, where he initially gained experience as a film editor and operator before exploring broadcast design for major television companies. Volkov rose to international prominence with his directorial debut in the feature film Sheep and Wolves (2016), a project he also co-wrote and conceived. The film earned him a nomination for the Golden Eagle Award for Best Animated Film and won several international accolades, including the Grand Prix at the Guro International Kids Film Festival. In 2021, Volkov co-directed the musical adventure My Sweet Monster alongside Viktor Glukhushin, where he also played a creative role as a screenwriter. Demonstrating his versatility, he provided the original Russian voices for multiple characters in the film, including King Elijah and the Nannies. His filmography also includes directing the 2018 animated film The Underwater Adventures of Sadko.
