Malin Maria Åkerman is a Swedish-Canadian actress, model, and singer, born on May 12, 1978, in Stockholm, Sweden. Her mother, Pia Sundström, was a model and aerobics instructor, and her father, Magnus Åkerman, worked as an insurance broker. When Malin was two years old, her family moved to Toronto, Canada. After her parents divorced when she was six, her father returned to Sweden, and Malin stayed in Canada with her mother.Growing up in Toronto and later in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario, Malin began her career early, appearing in television commercials at the age of five. At 17, she won the Canadian title of Ford Supermodel, which led to a three-year career as a catwalk model in Europe.Initially interested in child psychology, Malin enrolled at York University. However, she soon pursued acting, moving to Los Angeles in 2001. Her breakthrough role came in 2005 in the HBO series "The Comeback." She gained further recognition for her roles in films such as "The Heartbreak Kid" (2007), "27 Dresses" (2008), and particularly as Silk Spectre II in the 2009 film adaptation of "Watchmen."Throughout her career, Malin has showcased her versatility in both comedic and dramatic roles in numerous films and television series, including "Couples Retreat," "The Proposal," "Childrens Hospital," "Trophy Wife," and "Billions." She has also ventured into producing. In 2019, she starred in her first Swedish film, "A Piece of My Heart," where she also showcased her singing talents. In 2024, she co-hosted the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö.Malin was previously married to Italian musician Roberto Zincone, with whom she has a son. Since 2018, she has been married to English actor Jack Donnelly. She is fluent in Swedish and holds both Swedish and American citizenship.
