Maliq Akil Johnson (born June 22, 2000, in Brooklyn, New York) is an American actor, model, and dancer best known for his role as Jayson Jackson in Netflix's teen drama Grand Army. Raised in the Bedford–Stuyvesant neighborhood, Johnson's early exposure to the arts came through acting classes with Opening Act and modeling gigs for brands like Verizon, GAP, and Target. His first television appearance was in a 2004 PediaSure commercial. He attended Cobble Hill School of American Studies and is now based in Queens. Johnson's filmography includes roles in Little Men (2016), Little Boxes (2016), Knucklehead (2015), and the miniseries When They See Us (2019), where he portrayed Terence. He also appeared in the 2024 film Turtles All the Way Down as Mychal Turner. Beyond acting, Johnson is active on TikTok, where he shares content with his girlfriend, Madai Chakell. He also plays the saxophone and has expressed interest in portraying Miles Morales in a live-action Spider-Man adaptation.
