Mari Yamamoto is a Japanese actress and journalist, born on February 4, 1986, in Japan. She moved to London with her family in 1991 and later returned to Tokyo in 1994. After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in international relations from International Christian University in Tokyo, she moved to New York City to study method acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. She was also part of The Bats acting company at The Flea Theater. Yamamoto returned to Tokyo and began working in journalism, writing articles for The Daily Beast. She also worked on the writing staff for the HBO Max television series Tokyo Vice, later becoming an associate producer for its second season. As an actress, her notable television roles include Hana in the Apple TV+ series Pachinko (2022) and Keiko Miura in the main cast of Apple's Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023–present). In film, she starred opposite Brendan Fraser in the 2025 comedy-drama, Rental Family, where she plays Aiko Nakajima, an employee at the titular rental family agency.
