Maria Ehrich is a German actress, born on February 26, 1993, in Erfurt, Germany. She began her acting career at a young age, appearing in her first film, My Brother Is a Dog (2004), at the age of ten. She rose to prominence for her leading role as the time-traveler Gwendolyn "Gwen" Shepherd in the popular German fantasy film series, the Ruby Red Trilogy (Ruby Red in 2013, Sapphire Blue in 2014, and Emerald Green in 2016), an adaptation of Kerstin Gier's novels. This role earned her the prestigious Golden Camera award for Best Emerging New Performer in 2015, among other accolades.Ehrich is also well-known for her work in German television, particularly for her main role as Helga Schöllack in the successful historical drama series Ku'damm 56, Ku'damm 59, and Ku'damm 63. Her filmography includes a wide variety of genres, from the historical TV film Twilight Over Burma (2015) to the Netflix thriller Prey (2021) and the fantasy-comedy Chantal in Fairyland (2024). Beyond acting, Maria Ehrich is also an activist and documentarian; in 2018, she and her husband, Manuel Vering, embarked on a long-term travel project called "Leaving The Frame" to create documentaries and a book about people around the world who are working to make a positive change.
