María Elisa Camargo
María Elisa Camargo (born December 21, 1985, in Guayaquil, Ecuador) is an acclaimed Ecuadorian actress, singer, and activist whose trajectory spans reality TV, telenovelas, film, and video games. She first rose to prominence as a contestant on The X Factor Colombia in 2005, after which she built a strong foundation in musical theater and became a recognizable face in Latin American entertainment. Moving to Mexico marked a major turning point in her career. Camargo quickly secured roles—often as compelling antagonists—in prime-time Televisa series. Her charisma and screen presence earned her a spot on People en Español’s list of the “50 Most Beautiful,” as well as a participation invitation to Univision’s ¡Mira Quién Baila!. Teaming up with Telemundo, she led the telenovela Bajo el mismo cielo (“Under the Same Sky”) from 2015–2016—a record-breaking series that outperformed competitors in the coveted 9 pm slot. She further showcased her depth portraying real-life vallenato icon Patricia Teherán in Tarde lo conocí (2017), performing her songs live, and starred in the superseries El Barón (2018). Camargo’s international breakout continued with roles in film and U.S. TV: she appeared in Los Leones alongside Ozuna, guest-starred in Cinemax’s Warrior, and headlined projects like Infatuation and Dulce Obsesión. In 2022, she expanded into gaming, voicing and modeling the character Valeria Garza in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II—making history as the first Latina to debut as an operator in the franchise. Most recently, she starred in the Colombian Netflix thriller Escupiré sobre sus tumbas (2024–2025) and plays the enigmatic Josey alongside Josh Duhamel and Greg Kinnear in the action‑thriller Off the Grid (2025). With an unwavering drive and multifaceted talent, Camargo continues to challenge boundaries across multiple entertainment platforms.
