Marie Avgeropoulos is a Canadian actress and model, born on June 17, 1986, in Thunder Bay, Ontario, to Greek parents. Growing up, she embraced an outdoorsy lifestyle, spending much of her free time fishing, hunting, and camping. At 16, she began playing drums, a hobby that would later play a role in her career. She initially studied broadcast journalism for two years in her hometown before embarking on a backpacking trip through Europe. This experience ultimately led her to decide to pursue acting, prompting her move to Vancouver.Her entry into the entertainment industry came serendipitously when a friend invited her to a casting call in Vancouver that was seeking drummers. Her drumming skills led to appearances in various national commercials, and she soon caught the attention of director Chris Columbus. This led to her feature film debut as Valli Wooley in I Love You, Beth Cooper (2009). Following this, she took on guest roles in several popular TV shows like Supernatural, Harper's Island, Fringe, and The Troop.Avgeropoulos gained significant recognition for her role as Octavia Blake in The CW's post-apocalyptic science fiction television series The 100, which she starred in from 2014 to 2020.
