Born on December 7, 1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana, he is a prominent figure in the independent film world, particularly associated with the "mumblecore" movement. He and his brother, Jay Duplass, co-founded Duplass Brothers Productions, a company known for its low-budget, character-driven films and television series.The Duplass brothers gained recognition with their early films like The Puffy Chair (2005) and Baghead (2008), which they wrote, directed, and produced. They continued to work together on features such as Cyrus (2010) and Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011), often employing a unique filmmaking style that incorporates a significant amount of ad-libbing and improvisation.
