Mark Rietman (born 28 November 1960 in Amsterdam) is a distinguished Dutch actor and stage director with a career spanning nearly four decades .A graduate of the Amsterdam Theatre School (1986), he is a long-time staple at the Nationale Toneel since 2011 and has contributed significantly to renowned companies like Toneelgroep Amsterdam and Het Zuidelijk Toneel. Standing at 1.92 m, Rietman is noted for his commanding presence and portrayals of intense, mysterious characters—starting with his breakthrough as Kiet Bussink in Oud Geld and Peer Looman in Vuurzee. His film roles include Love Hurts, Karakter, Ober, and more recently Riphagen and Bloody Marie .On stage, he earned the prestigious Louis d’Or for Raak me aan (2005) and subsequent nominations for Strange Interlude, Het Wijde Land, Ghetto, and Gekluisterd, as well as an Arlecchino nomination for De Revisor (2016). In television and film, he’s a familiar face from Penoza, Zuidas, Bloody Marie, April, May and June, and the series Oogappels, where he portrayed Maarten van der Zijp. With over forty television and film credits and continuous stage work, Rietman remains a commanding and accomplished figure in Dutch performing arts.
