Born on October 17, 1986, in Pasadena, California, Marcus Peter Whitten is a highly prolific American voice actor celebrated for his work across major anime franchises, video games, and Western animation. A graduate of the University of Michigan with a BFA in Musical Theatre, Whitten initially honed his performance skills in live theatre—earning Ovation Award nominations and performing Off-Broadway—before transitioning into a full-time career in voice-over. He is perhaps most widely recognized by anime fans for his portrayal of the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, in the global phenomenon Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and its record-breaking film Mugen Train. His voice is also central to the Genshin Impact universe, where he voices the fan-favorite Anemo swordsman Kaedehara Kazuha, as well as the Fire Emblem series, in which he voices the characters Seteth, Lyon, and Hrid. Whitten's extensive filmography includes a diverse array of roles, ranging from the lovable Oh in the DreamWorks series Home: Adventures with Tip & Oh to the complex Leslie Kyle in Final Fantasy VII Remake. In 2025, his career reached a new milestone as he joined the cast of the epic animated musical David, voicing the character Abishai, one of David’s most loyal and fierce military commanders. His 2025 credits also include roles in the video game Monster Hunter: Wilds and the anime Medalist. Beyond his acting, Whitten is a co-creator, writer, and director for several successful audio fiction projects, including the horror podcast The Hotel and the award-winning sci-fi anthology The Theatre of Tomorrow.
