Marshall Cook
Marshall Cook is an American actor, director, writer, and producer who has built a versatile career across independent film and major commercial projects. Born on June 16, 1982, in Santa Rosa, California, he is the son of actress Catherine DePrima and a graduate of Occidental College, where he studied film and theater. Cook first gained significant attention in the festival circuit for his award-winning short films, eventually transitioning into features with the 2011 cult sports comedy Division III: Football's Finest, which he directed, co-wrote, produced, and starred in. His second feature, Film Fest (2020), which he also directed and co-wrote, premiered at the Austin Film Festival to critical acclaim, earning him the Jury Award for his sharp satirical take on the independent film industry. In front of the camera, Cook has maintained a steady presence in both television and film, often showcasing a natural gift for comedic timing alongside more gritty dramatic turns. His early television credits include guest appearances on popular sitcoms and dramas such as Weeds, Parenthood, How I Met Your Mother, and Goliath. In recent years, he has frequently collaborated with director Joe Carnahan, appearing in the 2021 action-thriller Copshop and the 2025 survival drama Not Without Hope. In the latter, he portrays Will Bleakley, one of the four friends involved in the tragic 2009 boating accident off the Florida coast, a performance that required him to convey intense physical and emotional vulnerability.
