Maryam d'Abo is a British actress, producer, and documentary filmmaker, best known for her role as Kara Milovy in the 1987 James Bond film The Living Daylights. Born on December 27, 1960, in London, she is of Dutch and Russian descent. Raised in a family that frequently moved across Europe due to her father's work, d'Abo developed a passion for the arts from an early age. She studied at the University of Paris and later trained at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). D'Abo's acting career began with her debut in the 1982 sci-fi horror film Xtro, where she portrayed Analise Mercier, a French au pair who becomes a human incubator for an alien . Her breakthrough came with The Living Daylights, where she played Kara Milovy, a Czechoslovakian cellist who becomes entangled in espionage. Her portrayal added depth and romance to the film, marking a departure from the typical Bond girl archetype .
