Matteo van der Grijn, born on February 23, 1981, in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is a Dutch actor known for his extensive work in film, television, and theatre. He is the son of actor Wim van der Grijn and actress Diane Lensink, and the grandson of actors Ton Lensink and Henny Orri. Van der Grijn graduated from the Amsterdam Theatre School in 2006.His career includes numerous stage productions with Het Nationale Toneel, and he was the first actor to play the lead role in the musical Soldier of Orange. On television, he has appeared in series such as Levenslied, Nieuwe Buren, Klem, Celblok H, DNA, and Oogappels. Internationally, he gained recognition for his role as Matthijs in the Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso.In film, van der Grijn has been featured in Tuscan Wedding, Daglicht, The Resistance Banker, Kapsalon Romy, and The Goldfinch. He also plays a role in the upcoming Netflix thriller iHostage (2025). Additionally, he is a sought-after voice actor for commercials, cartoons (including the Dutch voice of Buzz Lightyear in Lightyear), and audiobooks. He is married to Marije Hoebe, and they have two children.
