Matthias Schweighöfer is a prominent German actor, filmmaker, and musician, renowned for his versatile roles in both German and international cinema. Born on March 11, 1981, in Anklam, East Germany, Schweighöfer hails from a family of actors, which influenced his early exposure to the performing arts. He briefly attended the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin but left after a year to pursue acting professionally. Schweighöfer's film debut came in 1997 with Changing Skins. He gained prominence with roles in Soloalbum (2003), Off Beat (2004), and Eight Miles High (2007). His international recognition soared with the 2008 film Valkyrie, where he portrayed Lieutenant Franz Herber alongside Tom Cruise. In 2021, he starred as Ludwig Dieter in Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead and directed the prequel, Army of Thieves, which was released on Netflix. Beyond acting, Schweighöfer is an accomplished director and producer.
