Max Huang
Max Huang is a German-Chinese actor, martial artist, and stunt performer. Born Julian Maximilian Widjaja on September 22, 1988, in Nuremberg, Germany, he began studying Wing Chun at the age of 11. He later joined the German National Wushu Team, winning a gold medal at the German Wushu Nationals in 2009.Huang's career in the film industry began as a stunt performer and coordinator. He became the first German-born member of the Jackie Chan Stunt Team, where he has worked on numerous films, including Police Story 2013, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and The Foreigner.His most prominent acting role came in 2021 when he was cast as the Shaolin monk Kung Lao in the film reboot of Mortal Kombat. For this role, he drew on his extensive martial arts background and worked to bring an authentic portrayal of the character to the big screen. In addition to his acting and stunt work, Huang is also a singer-songwriter and filmmaker. He wrote, directed, and starred in his own short action film, No Way Out, which won several awards at the Fighting Spirit Film Festival in 2019. He is set to reprise his role as Kung Lao in the sequel, Mortal Kombat 2.
