Maximiliano Ulivieri

Maximiliano Ulivieri is an Italian activist, diversity manager, and social project designer, widely recognized for his work advocating for the rights of people with disabilities. Born on March 21, 1970, in Campiglia Marittima, Italy, he has lived in Bologna since 2010 with his wife Enza and their daughter Sophie. Diagnosed with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT1A), a rare genetic neuropathy causing muscle atrophy, Ulivieri transformed his personal challenges into a driving force for social change. In 2009, he founded diversamenteagibile.it, a website dedicated to accessible tourism. In 2013, he established the LoveGiver committee to promote the recognition of sexual assistance for people with disabilities in Italy. Since 2023, Ulivieri has served as a diversity manager for the Municipality of Bologna, where he actively promotes independent living projects and fights against all forms of discrimination. He is also the author of the book LoveAbility: Sexual Assistance for People with Disabilities (Erickson, 2014) and works as a lecturer and trainer on sexuality and disability awareness. Ulivieri has spoken at numerous events, including the Ferrara Journalism Festival and TEDx Bologna, advocating for inclusion and respect for diversity. His motto, “Do not be afraid to fail,” reflects his positive and determined approach to creating a more inclusive society.
