Merlin Sandmeyer
Merlin Sandmeyer is a German actor, born in 1990 in Saarbrücken, Germany. He started his career in the performing arts even before his formal training, working as an assistant director, musician, and actor at the Staatstheater Saarbrücken. He went on to study drama from 2012 to 2016 at the prestigious Otto Falckenberg Schule in Munich. Following his studies, he was an ensemble member at the Burgtheater in Vienna from 2016 to 2019, and since 2019, he has been a member of the ensemble at the Thalia Theater in Hamburg. His theater work has been highly recognized, receiving the O. E.-Hasse Prize in 2015 and the Boy Gobert Prize in 2019. On screen, he is widely known for his comedic role as the store detective Jonas in the popular mockumentary series Die Discounter (2021–2024), which earned him the Deutscher Schauspielpreis (Ensemble) in 2022 and a Blauer Panther Audience Award in 2022. His filmography also includes the series Ich und die Anderen (2021), Hammerharte Jungs (2023), and the upcoming comedy Western film, Das Kanu des Manitu (2025), where he is listed in the role of Wolfgang.
