Michael Lesslie, born in November 1983, is a highly regarded British playwright, screenwriter, and producer, known for his diverse and award-winning work across stage, film, and television. After studying English Language and Literature at Exeter College, Oxford, where he received a double first, Lesslie embarked on a prolific career that quickly garnered critical attention. His debut short film, Heavy Metal Drummer, earned a BAFTA nomination, setting the stage for his future successes.Lesslie has a significant presence in film, notably co-writing the screenplay for the acclaimed 2015 adaptation of Macbeth starring Michael Fassbender, and contributing to the screenplay for the 2016 film Assassin's Creed. More recently, he co-wrote the screenplay for the highly successful The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes (2023), which revitalized the franchise.
