Michael Smiley is a highly regarded Northern Irish actor and comedian. Born in Belfast in 1963, he first gained attention in the early 1990s as a stand-up comedian in London after a bet led him to perform at an open-mic night. Before his career in comedy took off, he worked as a cycle courier and an acid house DJ.Smiley is well-known for his collaborations with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost. He had a memorable role as the bicycle-riding raver Tyres O'Flaherty in the cult British sitcom Spaced and later appeared as a zombie version of the character in the film Shaun of the Dead.He has built a diverse and successful career in film and television, often appearing in dark and critically acclaimed projects. His breakout dramatic role came in the 2011 British horror film Kill List, for which he won the British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actor.
