Mike Colter
Mike Colter is an American actor best known for his physically imposing presence and his leading role as the Marvel superhero Luke Cage. Born on August 26, 1976, in Columbia, South Carolina, Colter was inspired to pursue acting after watching the film A Soldier’s Story. He earned a BA in theater from the University of South Carolina and an MFA from Rutgers University. His career began with guest spots on shows like ER and The Parkers, but he gained significant attention in 2004 when he played the boxer Big Willie Little in Clint Eastwood’s Oscar-winning film Million Dollar Baby. Colter became a household name when he was cast as the indestructible Luke Cage in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first appearing in Jessica Jones (2015) before starring in his own titular series (2016–2018) and the crossover event The Defenders. Beyond his superhero fame, he is highly regarded for his role as the morally complex drug kingpin Lemond Bishop in The Good Wife and its spinoff The Good Fight, and as David Acosta in the supernatural drama series Evil. His film work includes major productions like Men in Black 3, Zero Dark Thirty, and the 2023 action-thriller Plane opposite Gerard Butler. In the 2025 film Alarum, Colter takes on a villainous turn as Orlin, a lethal international operative and mercenary leader. His character serves as the primary physical threat to protagonists Joe and Lara (Scott Eastwood and Willa Fitzgerald), leading a brutal team to recover a stolen hard drive containing sensitive global intelligence. Colter’s performance in the film showcases his expertise in high-stakes action sequences, playing a sociopathic antagonist who is unafraid to challenge even the "old guard" represented by Sylvester Stallone's character.
