Mike Epps, born Michael Elliot Epps on November 18, 1970, in Indianapolis, Indiana, is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. He began his career in stand-up comedy and gained early recognition after appearing on HBO's Def Comedy Jam in 1995. This led to his first major film role in the 2000 sequel Next Friday, where he played the character "Day-Day Jones" alongside Ice Cube. He reprised the role in the 2002 follow-up, Friday After Next. Epps's filmography is extensive and includes a mix of comedic and dramatic roles. He is known for playing "Black Doug" in The Hangover and The Hangover Part III, and "L.J. Wade" in the action-horror films Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Resident Evil: Extinction. He also had a notable dramatic role as the antagonist "Satin" in the 2012 film Sparkle. In addition to his film work, Epps has a successful stand-up career with several comedy specials, including Mike Epps: Don't Take It Personal and Mike Epps: Ready to Sell Out, and he is a main cast member on the Netflix sitcom The Upshaws.
