Mary Claire "Mimi" Kennedy is an American actress, author, and activist. Born on September 25, 1948, in Rochester, New York, she graduated from Our Lady of Mercy High School in 1966 and attended Smith College.Kennedy's acting career spans decades across television, film, and theatre. She made her Broadway debut as Jan in the original production of Grease. On television, she is widely recognized for her roles in Chuck Lorre-created sitcoms, most notably as Abby O'Neil, Dharma's mother, in Dharma & Greg (1997-2002) and as Marjorie Armstrong-Perugian, a veteran 12-step sponsor, in Mom (2013-2021). She also had a notable role as Ruth Sloan in the drama series Homefront (1991-1993), for which she received critical recognition.
