Ming-Na Wen

Ming-Na Wen, born on November 20, 1963, in Coloane, Macau, is an accomplished American actress and model with a diverse and extensive career spanning film, television, and voice acting. She moved to the United States as a child and developed a passion for acting, eventually graduating with a degree in theatre from Carnegie Mellon University. Wen gained early recognition for her role as Lien Hughes in the soap opera As the World Turns, making history as the first Asian-American actress to have a contract role in a daytime soap. Her breakthrough in film came with The Joy Luck Club (1993). She is widely known for her role as Dr. Jing-Mei "Deb" Chen in the long-running medical drama ER and for voicing the iconic character Fa Mulan in Disney's animated film Mulan (1998) and its sequel, for which she won an Annie Award for voice acting.In television, Wen has starred as Agent Melinda May in the Marvel series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and has garnered significant attention for her portrayal of the bounty hunter Fennec Shand in the Star Wars universe, appearing in The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Her film credits include Street Fighter, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (voice), and Ralph Breaks the Internet (voice). Beyond acting, she was honored as a Disney Legend in 2019 and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2023. In Karate Kid: Legends (2025), she is listed as playing Li Fong's Mother. Throughout her career, Ming-Na Wen has received several awards and nominations, including a Saturn Award for Best Actress in a Streaming Series for The Book of Boba Fett and a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for ER.
