Born on August 9, 1972, in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, he was raised in Mumbai and completed his bachelor's degree before honing his craft at the Roshan Taneja Acting School. He began his career in the late 1990s with television shows like Paltan, where he played the lead role of Col. R.S. Sajwan, and appeared in popular series such as Aahat and Special Squad. His film debut came in 2002 with Dil Vil Pyar Vyar, but he gained widespread national recognition for his breakout role as Captain Khan in the 2004 blockbuster Main Hoon Na.
