Nathalie Merchant is an award-winning actress with a diverse background, born in Romania to a Romanian mother and a Panamanian/Jamaican father. She moved to Sweden at a young age and is a polyglot, proficient in seven languages. Merchant has a background in dance and singing but has primarily focused on acting, with a particular interest in sci-fi, epic, and fantasy projects. Her career includes roles in both television and film. Notable roles include a multi-episodic part as an ex-SÄPO agent in the TV series Shetland and a lead role in the film Call of the Unseen, for which she won a Best Actress award. She also played a supporting role as a member of a league of elite bandits in the 2025 film An Honest Life.
