Nawell Madani

Nawell Madani is a Belgian-born comedian, actress, and director, celebrated for her candid humor and resilience. Born on October 25, 1979, in Watermael-Boitsfort, Brussels, she hails from an Algerian family and was raised in a household of six siblings. At the age of two, she suffered third-degree burns, an experience that profoundly influenced her perspective on life. Initially aspiring to be a professional choreographer and dancer, Madani transitioned into acting and comedy, training at Studio Pygmalion and under Damien Acoca. She gained prominence as the sole female member of the Jamel Comedy Club troupe in 2011, though she departed after six months due to the competitive environment. Madani's one-woman show, C’est moi la plus belge, premiered in 2014, addressing topics like North African women's virginity and homosexuality. The show was a success, earning her the 2015 Globe de Cristal Award for Best Stand-Up. She further showcased her versatility by directing and starring in the autobiographical film C’est tout pour moi in 2017, which was well-received by audiences and critics alike. In her personal life, Madani faced a 17-year struggle with infertility, undergoing over ten in vitro fertilizations. She openly shared her journey, highlighting the emotional and physical challenges, and in 2021, she and her partner, actor Djebril Zonga, welcomed their daughter, Lou Ezna.. As of October 11, 2025, Madani is scheduled to perform her latest one-woman show, Tout court, at the Palais des Congrès in Versailles. In this performance, she reflects on the complexities of fame, personal challenges, and the pressures of modern life, offering audiences an intimate glimpse into her experiences.
