Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, commonly known as Neymar, is a highly acclaimed Brazilian professional footballer, widely considered one of the best players of his generation. Born on February 5, 1992, in Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil, he began his career at Santos FC, making his professional debut in 2009. During his time at Santos, he showcased exceptional talent, winning the Copa Libertadores in 2011 and earning individual accolades such as the FIFA Puskás Award for the best goal.In 2013, Neymar made a high-profile move to FC Barcelona, forming a formidable attacking trio alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, known as "MSN." With Barcelona, he won numerous titles, including the UEFA Champions League in 2015 and two La Liga titles. In 2017, he transferred to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for a world-record fee of €222 million, seeking to become the focal point of a major European club. At PSG, he continued to win domestic titles, including multiple Ligue 1 championships, and helped the team reach the Champions League final in 2020.Internationally, Neymar is Brazil's all-time top goalscorer, surpassing Pelé's record. He has represented Brazil in multiple FIFA World Cups and led his country to an Olympic gold medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games, having previously won a silver medal in 2012.After six seasons with PSG, Neymar moved to Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal in 2023. However, his tenure there was significantly impacted by injuries. As of 2025, he has returned to his boyhood club, Santos, in Brazil. His career has been marked by dazzling dribbling skills, creative playmaking, and prolific goalscoring, although he has also faced criticism for injuries and on-field theatrics. Despite recent injury setbacks, he remains a prominent figure in global football, with Brazil's new coach Carlo Ancelotti stating that Neymar is still a key part of his plans for the 2026 World Cup.
