Nicole Fortuin
Nicole Fortuin is a highly accomplished South African actress, dancer, and theatre maker, born on April 30, 1992, in Belhar, Cape Town. She began her journey as a performer at a young age, starting formal dance training at three and later attending Settlers High School, where she excelled in Drama and Visual Arts. Her early talent was recognized when, at age 16, she became a Top 4 finalist in the Shield Teens No Sweat Dance Challenge. She went on to represent South Africa as a hip-hop dancer in competitions across Greece, Russia, and Los Angeles before pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Performance at the University of Cape Town, graduating in 2014. Her transition from dance to acting was driven by a deep curiosity about storytelling and a desire for career longevity, eventually leading her to become a prominent figure in both South African and international productions. Fortuin’s professional acting career includes a wide array of notable roles across film and television. She made her feature film debut as Georgie in the 2016 American teen film A Cinderella Story: If the Shoe Fits and earned significant critical acclaim for her lead role as Natalie Jonkers in the 2019 film Flatland, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Her television work is equally extensive, featuring recurring roles as Detective Petersen in the Netflix global hit Blood & Water, Ririka in the live-action One Piece adaptation, and Lee-Ann in the kykNET series Alles Malan. In 2025, she expanded her action portfolio by portraying Detective Idalia Cutler in the film Muzzle: City of Wolves. Beyond the screen, she is a celebrated stage actress, notably winning a Broadway World Award and receiving a Fleur du Cap nomination for her performance as Carol in David Mamet's Oleanna at the Fugard Theatre.
