Nikolaj Lie Kaas

Nikolaj Lie Kaas is a highly acclaimed Danish actor, director, and writer, born on May 22, 1973, whose career began in the early 1990s and has spanned both national and international projects. He made his award-winning debut in The Boys from St. Petri (1991) and is notably the only actor to win three Bodil Awards (Danish film critics' award) before the age of 30, including a win for his role in Lars von Trier's Dogme 95 film The Idiots (1998). Kaas is most famous for his lead role as the brooding Detective Carl Mørck in the critically and commercially successful Department Q film series, and for his collaborations in dark comedies with director Anders Thomas Jensen, such as Adam's Apples and Riders of Justice. Internationally, he is recognized for playing the assassin in Ron Howard's Angels & Demons (2009) and the eccentric druid Divis in the television series Britannia. Beyond acting, he has also ventured into directing and writing, including the 2023 TV series Agent.
