Niranjan Iyengar (born April 9, 1969, in Anand, Gujarat) is a prominent Indian screenwriter, lyricist, author, and talk-show host based in Mumbai. He began his career by writing the non-fiction book The Making of Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), which led him into film writing. Over the years, he has written dialogues for several successful films such as Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, Fashion, Wake Up Sid, My Name Is Khan, Ra.One, Student of the Year, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.He ventured into songwriting in 2009 with Kurbaan and went on to pen popular tracks like “Tere Naina,” “Sajda,” “Noor-e-Khuda” from My Name Is Khan, and the hit “Chammak Challo” from Ra.One. His lyrical work on My Name Is Khan earned him several nominations and awards, including Mirchi Music Awards.Iyengar also co-founded Electric Apples Entertainment and produced the 2020 award-winning short film Devi. He is the host of the celebrity talk show Look Who’s Talking with Niranjan on Zee Café. Multilingual and trained in classical music, he brings depth and sensitivity to his creative work. Known for his long-standing collaborations with Karan Johar and Manish Malhotra, Niranjan continues to influence Hindi cinema with his unique voice and storytelling style.
