Nizhalgal Ravi
Nizhalgal Ravi (born Ravichandran Samanna on April 16, 1956, in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu) is a prominent Indian actor, television artist, and voice actor known primarily for his extensive work in Tamil cinema, having appeared in over 580 films across Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam languages. His screen name, "Nizhalgal" (meaning Shadows), was permanently affixed to his birth name after his critically acclaimed feature film debut in the 1980 Tamil film Nizhalgal, directed by Bharathiraja. Though the film was a commercial failure, it was screened at the International Film Festival of India. Throughout the 1980s, Ravi quickly established himself as a versatile actor, taking on roles as a hero, second lead, villain, and character artist in successful films like Nayakan (1987), Vedham Pudhithu (1987), and Chinna Thambi Periya Thambi (1987). Beyond his prolific film career, he gained significant recognition on the small screen through his roles in popular television serials, notably K. Balachander's telefilm Rail Sneham and the subsequent serial Jannal. Additionally, he is widely celebrated as a seasoned voice artist, particularly known for lending his voice to actor Amitabh Bachchan for his Tamil-dubbed films.
