He pursued his passion by majoring in drama at Tufts University, where he became close friends with fellow actor Hank Azaria. After graduating, he spent three years working in the theatre scene in Boston before moving to New York, where he performed with prestigious companies like the New York Shakespeare Festival and Lincoln Center Theater, earning his Equity card by touring with Shakespeare & Company.Platt made his film debut in 1988 with Married to the Mob, recommended by Bill Murray.
