Olivier Bériot
Olivier Bériot is a highly prolific and versatile French costume designer known for his extensive work across film, television, opera, dance, and theater, often exhibiting a flair for historical detail and the baroque. His career spans decades and is marked by significant collaborations with major directors in both French and international cinema. Bériot is a frequent collaborator with director Luc Besson, having designed costumes for many of his action and fantasy films, including Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Lucy, Anna, The Lady, and The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec. He also served as the costume designer for the popular Taken trilogy and other action films like Unleashed (Danny the Dog). Beyond action, he received critical acclaim and nominations for his work on period and character-driven dramas, including a César Award nomination for Best Costume Design for Les Garçons et Guillaume, à table! (Me, Myself & Mum) and The Extraordinary Adventures of Adèle Blanc-Sec, as well as a Costume Designers Guild Award nomination for Julian Schnabel’s The Diving Bell and the Butterfly. In recent years, his television credits include the contemporary high-stakes styles for the Netflix series Lupin and the elaborate 18th-century period looks for the Apple TV+ series Franklin. Furthermore, Bériot has a major presence in the performing arts, having designed numerous productions at the Paris Opéra House and other prestigious venues, including operas, ballets, and modern dance pieces. Most recently, he was the main Costume Designer for the stunning opening and closing ceremonies of the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics.
