Oren Koules is an American entrepreneur, film producer, and former professional hockey player. Born on January 31, 1961, in La Grange Park, Illinois, Koules first pursued a career in professional hockey, playing in the Western Hockey League from 1979 to 1982. After his hockey career, he became a commodities trader at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange before transitioning into the film industry in the early 1990s.In 1998, Koules co-founded Evolution Entertainment with Mark Burg. Together, they founded Twisted Pictures in 2004, which became a successful horror production company known for the Saw film franchise. Koules also served as an executive producer for the CBS sitcom, Two and a Half Men, earning multiple Emmy nominations for his work.In addition to his career in entertainment, Koules has maintained an involvement in professional sports. He was a part-owner of the NHL team Tampa Bay Lightning and the full owner of the minor league team, the Helena Bighorns. He is currently a producer for the newly formed Koulest Productions alongside his son, Miles Koules. He also produced the 2025 thriller film Trust. Koules has been married twice; his first marriage was to Risa Shapiro, with whom he has a son, Miles. His second marriage was to Shereen Arazm.
