Born Paige Michelle Sletten on March 26, 1994, in Dundee, Oregon, she was raised in Sherwood, Oregon, where her parents owned a dance studio, leading to her extensive background in ballet, jazz, and hip hop. Despite her dance training, she was a tomboy who enjoyed outdoor activities like dirt biking and fishing. Facing severe bullying in high school, including being sexually assaulted, she eventually changed her surname legally to VanZant due to the taunts.Her journey into combat sports began when her family moved to Sparks, Nevada, and she discovered Ken Shamrock's gym while looking for a dance studio. She quickly excelled in martial arts, making her professional MMA debut in 2012.
