He began his acting career in the mid-1970s after studying at the Cours Jean Périmony and attending the Conservatoire de Paris as an auditor. Greggory's first significant film role was in André Téchiné's Les Sœurs Brontë (1979), portraying Branwell Brontë. He gained further recognition with his role in Éric Rohmer's Pauline à la plage (1983). Throughout the 1990s, he collaborated extensively with director Patrice Chéreau, starring in films such as La Reine Margot (1994) and Ceux qui m'aiment prendront le train (1998), as well as in theatrical productions like Dans la solitude des champs de coton and Phèdre.
