Pasupathy (born Pasupathy Masilamani on 18 May 1969 in Chennai, Tamil Nadu) is a versatile Indian actor known for his powerful and nuanced performances across Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada cinema. He began his artistic journey in theatre, spending over a decade with the acclaimed Chennai-based troupe Koothu‑P‑Pattarai. Pasupathy made his film debut in the late 1990s and quickly gained attention for his intense roles, particularly as a Sri Lankan militant in Kannathil Muthamittal and the menacing Kothala Thevar in Virumaandi, where he acted alongside Kamal Haasan. He has since played a wide range of roles—villains, comedians, character actors, and protagonists—with equal conviction. Notable films include Veyyil, E, Aravaan, Mumbai Xpress, Majaa, and Asuran. His portrayal of boxing coach Rangan Vaathiyar in Sarpatta Parambarai earned critical acclaim and awards, further solidifying his reputation as a character actor of great depth. In recent years, he has appeared in Thandatti, Thangalaan, and as Veeran in the sci-fi epic Kalki 2898 AD. Known for his low-profile off-screen presence and deep commitment to his craft, Pasupathy is widely respected in the Indian film industry for his intensity, range, and integrity as a performer.
