Paul Barber is a distinguished British actor renowned for his extensive work in television, film, and theatre. Born on March 18, 1951, in Liverpool, England, he began his career in the early 1970s, initially performing in the musical Hair. His breakout role came in 1974 as Sam "Lucky" Ubootu in the ITV Playhouse production Lucky, set in Liverpool. He further gained prominence portraying the flamboyant gang boss Malleson in the BBC series Gangsters from 1975 to 1978. Barber's versatility has led to numerous roles across British television, including appearances in Only Fools and Horses, Boys from the Blackstuff, Minder, To the Manor Born, and The Brothers McGregor. He is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Denzil in Only Fools and Horses, a role that endeared him to audiences and remains a highlight of his career. In film, Barber's notable performances include his role as Horse in the acclaimed 1997 film The Full Monty, which earned him widespread recognition. He also appeared in The Long Good Friday (1980), The 51st State (2001), and Going Postal (2010). Beyond his acting career, Barber is an advocate for children in care.
