Paul Scheer

Born on January 31, 1976, in Huntington, New York, Paul Christian Scheer is an American comedian, actor, filmmaker, and podcaster. He attended St. Anthony's High School before moving to Manhattan to study at New York University, where he majored in Communication and Education. His comedic career began early; at age 19, he became the youngest performer ever accepted into the Off-Broadway comedy troupe Chicago City Limits. In 1998, he joined the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater, performing with the acclaimed improv group Respecto Montalban alongside future stars like Rob Riggle and Rob Huebel. Scheer’s television career gained momentum as a regular on VH1’s Best Week Ever and through the creation of the MTV sketch series Human Giant with Aziz Ansari and Rob Huebel. He is perhaps best known for his role as the eccentric Dr. Andre Nowzick on the long-running FX comedy series The League. He further demonstrated his creative range by creating, directing, and starring in the Adult Swim action-parody series NTSF:SD:SUV::. His extensive television credits also include recurring roles on Fresh Off the Boat, Veep (for which he shared a SAG Award), and Black Monday, as well as voice work for animated series like Star Trek: Lower Decks and Big City Greens. In addition to his screen work, Scheer is a major figure in the podcasting world. He co-hosts the award-winning podcast How Did This Get Made? alongside his wife, actress June Diane Raphael, and Jason Mantzoukas, where they dissect poorly received films. He also co-hosts the film podcast Unspooled and has authored a New York Times bestselling memoir titled Joyful Recollections of Trauma. His film credits include roles in The Disaster Artist, Long Shot, and Twisters. Scheer currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife and their two sons.
