Phil Hunt

Phil Hunt is a highly influential figure in the independent British film industry, primarily known as a prolific film financier, executive producer, and Co-founder/CEO of several key film companies. He established Head Gear Films in 2002 to address the challenges he faced raising finance as an independent producer in the mid-90s, when he began his film career by producing micro-budget films like Fast Food (1998), which co-starred Gerard Butler, and Chunky Monkey (2001). Head Gear Films has since grown to invest in over 550 films, becoming one of the world's most prolific independent film financiers by providing debt lending, such as cash flow, tax credits, and gap financing. He co-founded Bankside Films in 2007, an international film sales and distribution company, and later co-founded Bohemia Media and Yet Another Monster Company, through which he and his partner, Lucy Fenton, support alternative voices and handle commercial titles, respectively. Before his career in film finance, he worked as an advertising and music photographer, notably for post-punk bands like Big Audio Dynamite. He is a BAFTA voting member, a mentor for producing students at the National Film and Television School (NFTS), and the founder/festival director of the British Film Festival of Kurdistan, Iraq.
