Phil Wickham

Born on April 5, 1984, in San Diego, California, Philip David Wickham is a prominent American contemporary Christian singer-songwriter and worship leader. He was raised in a musical and religious home as the son of John and Lisa Wickham, who were members of the pioneering Christian band Parable. Wickham began leading worship for his youth group at the age of 13 and later graduated from Calvary Christian School in 2002. He launched his full-time music career in 2003 with the independent release of Give You My World, eventually signing with Simple/INO Records. His early label projects, including his 2006 self-titled debut and 2007's Cannons, garnered significant attention, with the latter being partially inspired by the works of C.S. Lewis. Over the next two decades, Wickham released a prolific series of albums such as Heaven & Earth (2009), Response (2011), and The Ascension (2013), the last of which featured his RIAA Platinum-certified hit "This Is Amazing Grace." Wickham’s career faced a significant challenge in 2014 when he underwent surgery to remove a polyp from his vocal cords, a period of forced silence that led to deep spiritual reflection and eventually formed the basis for his 2016 album Children of God. He returned to the charts with continued success, releasing major projects like Living Hope (2018), Hymn of Heaven (2021), and I Believe (2023). His work has earned multiple GMA Dove Awards, including Worship Album of the Year, as well as Grammy nominations. In addition to his studio recordings, Wickham is well known for his Singalong live album series and his 2025 release Song of the Saints. Beyond his music, he is an author of devotional books and has appeared in films such as Breakthrough and the 2025 animated feature David. He currently resides in San Diego with his wife, Mallory Plotnik, whom he married in 2008, and their four children.
